How text messages work

No Flakin (noflakin.com) is an online marketplace for used construction and farm equipment in California's Central Valley. Sellers promise to answer every buyer within 48 hours. This page explains the texts we send, how you agree to them, and how to stop them.
We only text people who opted in on our website. We never send marketing or promotional texts.

1. What we text
Program name: No Flakin listing alerts. The texts are about your own account and listings, and nothing else:
- A one-time verification code when you add your phone number.
- Reminders to a seller that a buyer is waiting for a reply, before the 48-hour deadline.
- An alert when a listing becomes temporarily inactive because a reply deadline passed.
We do not text you about new messages, deals, or anything else, and we never send marketing texts.
2. How you opt in
You opt in on our website, never by text. On the sign-up page and on your account settings page there is a checkbox that is unchecked by default. Checking it is optional.
After you check it, you enter your mobile number on your account page and confirm it with a one-time code we text to that number. We only text verified numbers whose owner checked the box.
Agreeing to texts is not a condition of buying or selling anything, or of having an account.
This is how the checkbox appears on the sign-up screen, word for word:

Optional. We only text for phone verification, 48-hour reminders, and when a listing goes inactive.
3. What the texts say
Every text starts with "No Flakin" and ends with "Reply STOP to opt out." Links only go to our own site (https://noflakin.com), never a link shortener. Examples:

4. How often
Message frequency varies with your activity on the site: usually a few a month, more when buyers are waiting on you.
Msg & data rates may apply. Check your mobile plan.
5. Stop or get help
- Reply STOP to any text to stop getting them (STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT work too). We send one text confirming you are unsubscribed, then no more. You can also turn texts off in your account settings.
- Reply HELP (or INFO) for help. We reply with how to reach us.
- Reply START to get texts again.
After you opt out we still tell you about your listings on the site and by email.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

6. Your phone number
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes.
We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number or your text-message opt-in with anyone for their marketing. Our text provider receives your number and the message only to deliver it. Your phone number is never shown on listings or on your profile.
